Three Months Later

Last summer we played a lot. And when I say a lot I mean like every night. We went to Europe for two weeks, hung out with friends, cooked, and worked out almost every day.

This summer has been the complete opposite. All we've done is study and work. But guess what - this week that all changes. Richie takes the bar Tues-Weds and after he's done our summer finally starts.

We don't have any big plans, just a lot of little ones - tubing, kayaking, bike riding, hanging out at the pool and beach, cooking (a lot), reading, and doing the one thing we haven't done all summer - relaxing.

Top Ten Reasons I've Stopped Blogging

Every few days someone mentions that I've stopped blogging. I used to be the everyday blogger and now I'm the MIA blogger. So to answer the question people keep asking...here are my top ten reasons for not blogging lately.

# 10 - I'm not crafty. Every blog I read nowadays is about some cute craft and reminds me how not crafty I am. And how much time I don't have for trying to become crafty.

#9 - I don't have kids. If a blog doesn't have crafts, it has kids. Don't get me wrong, I love kids and post pictures of my nephews often but my nephews can't keep my blog going daily.

#8 - We stopped cooking all together. Richie eats something simple, and I eat or forget to eat. No more fancy (or not fancy in my case) food.

#7 - I stopped working out right about when I stopped cooking.

#6 - I've only read about three books in the past three months and none of them were that great. It definitely does not help my 100 in 2010 goal. This fall will be a reading frenzy.

#5 - I haven't left my house all week (other than work) except to buy groceries. That's how boring my life is right now. With Richie studying for the bar, I literally do nothing.

#4 - We haven't been on a date since graduation, and we don't have a vacation planned until after the bar. Maybe I'm on a studying for the bar leave of absence.

#3 - I have nothing to write about so I waste too much time trying to come up with anything.

#2 - I can count the exciting things that have happened this summer on one hand - I went to see my family, I got a raise and window seat at work, and Richie graduated from law school. Done.

#1 - I worked 230 hours in June. That averages out to about 12 hours a day. Add that to ten hours of sleeping/eating and that doesn't leave much time for blogging. Or anything else.

But there is good news - work is slowing down, Richie takes the bar in two weeks, and I've got big plans for August. I'm anticipating a roaring comeback. Soon.

Just Plain Mean

Last week I went to Kansas to play with my family again while Richie finished up his bar prep course. Like always, we played a lot, ate a lot, and slept a little.

Friday we went and picked out a puppy for one of our family friends. I learned a lesson while we were picking out the puppy. Never take a four year old to look at puppies unless they get to bring one home. It was absolutely heartbreaking to see Brazen fall in love with this cute little guy - he named it Foxy - and not be able to take his puppy with him. I made my mom be the bad guy and tell Brazen, while he was crying, that Foxy just couldn't come home with us this time. He ended up with a Beta fish instead.

But you know what I realized? I'm a lot like Brazen and that puppy. Every time I go home to visit my family, I fall in love with them all over again. And every time, it breaks my heart when I realize that I just can't take them home with me. Because who wouldn't miss these guys?
