Just Plain Mean

Last week I went to Kansas to play with my family again while Richie finished up his bar prep course. Like always, we played a lot, ate a lot, and slept a little.

Friday we went and picked out a puppy for one of our family friends. I learned a lesson while we were picking out the puppy. Never take a four year old to look at puppies unless they get to bring one home. It was absolutely heartbreaking to see Brazen fall in love with this cute little guy - he named it Foxy - and not be able to take his puppy with him. I made my mom be the bad guy and tell Brazen, while he was crying, that Foxy just couldn't come home with us this time. He ended up with a Beta fish instead.

But you know what I realized? I'm a lot like Brazen and that puppy. Every time I go home to visit my family, I fall in love with them all over again. And every time, it breaks my heart when I realize that I just can't take them home with me. Because who wouldn't miss these guys?

I'm like your little boy -- I can't be trusted at an animal shelter or pet store. I would either come home with three or cry for days. And that's why I DO NOT GO, and I'm completely serious.

But my hat is off to those who can and do! : )

Awww..I feel like that about you and your family too! :) When we got to see everyone in June, even though it was just for a few hours I felt like we had just picked up where we left off last time! Brazen will get his puppy one day, and you'll be near your family again one day too! We missed you in DC though! :)
