Since I've only seen one of the five movies nominated for Best Picture I decided to make a list of my own. So without further delay, here are my favorite movies from 2008 in order of how much I enjoyed them.
- The Dark Knight
- Twilight
- Iron Man
- Dan in Real Life
- Fireproof
- Get Smart
- Definitely, Maybe
- Run Fat Boy Run
- Kung Fu Panda
- Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Three of the worst:
- Mamma Mia
- Indiana Jones
- Nights in Rodanthe
And five on my need to see list:
- 27 Dresses
- Wall-E (it's sitting on my tv stand now)
- Horton Hears a Who
- Marley & Me
- Narnia- Prince Caspian
*Disclaimer- These lists are my opinion. This is not to say these are the best movies, just the ones I enjoyed the most.

27 Dresses was definitely my favorite from 2008. I'm not really sure that I even enjoyed anything else that came out except Get Smart (though I'll admit I didn't watch very many of them).
You have certainly seen more movies than I have this year! I am ashamed to say that I have not seen any of your Top 10...
Dad. Some comments on your list: You left 10,000 B.C. off the worst list (which Richie forced us to see). Glad you recognized our other disaster, Mamma Mia (again, which you forced me to see...my version of the story anyway). No mention of the Other Boleyn girl on either list. Dan in Real Life was a 2007 movie.
My Top 12 was 1) Dark Knight, 2) Fireproof, 3) Ironman, 4) Kung Fu Panda, 5) Bolt, 6) Slumdog, 7) Hancock, 8) Gran Torino, 9) Run Fat Boy and 10) Frost/Nixon, 11) Marley & Me and 12) Wall-E. It really was a good year.
Worst was 1) 7 lbs (I have real issues with that movie), 2) Babylon A.D., 3) Indiana Jones, 4) Zohan, 5) Mamma Mia.
Most disappointing (but not bad): 1) Quatum of Solace, 2) Twilight, 3) Hulk, 4) Clone Wars, and 5) Cloverfield.
In terms of movies you may want to consider that might surprise you: I have heard good things about Beverly Hills Chiuhaha and I personally liked Leatherheads and Vantage Point (two movies that were trashed a little). And if you have never seen a Tyler Perry movie, it is well-worth sampling one of his movies (he had two out in '08; Family that Preys and Meet the Browns).
Yesss! You HAVE to see 27 Dresses.
Ah. It is sooooo very cute.
Like LOVED. Katherine Heigel and
James Marsden are ADORABLE in
it. For real. I think you'll honestly love it.
I'm watching Mamma Mia right now...
you MUST see slum dog millionaire. MUST see. i laughed at jack blacks line, too. other than that, i wasnt all that impressed....bride wars was really cute. loved twilight just b/c it was twilight...in fact, just re-read the whole series. :) i liked eagle eye-the reviews weren't that great-but i thought it was good! i have a mad crush on shia labouf though....marley and me is a good movie, you will probably cry....the book is much better-but as you know, books usually are....
