Thursday Thirteen #40?: Thirteen Summer Movies

So I've been a complete slacker when it comes to movies this past year. Maybe it's because tickets cost $10-11 each. Or the fact that every time I rent a movie from Red Box, I sleep through it. Either way, there are a lot of movies that I wanted to see but never did.

So here's thirteen movies that I want to see. Some of them came out a while ago and others are coming out this summer.

  1. The Dark Knight
  2. Mamma Mia (I really liked the musical)
  3. Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
  4. Get Smart
  5. 27 Dresses
  6. Definitely Maybe
  7. P.S. I Love You
  8. 21
  9. Elizabeth The Golden Age
  10. Across the Universe
  11. Untraceable
  12. Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day
  13. Made of Honor

What's the best movie you've seen so far this summer? Anything you're dying to see? Are there any movies on my list that you loved or hated? I'd love any recommendations on recent movies so I don't waste my time and money on something not worth it.

I loved Elizabeth: The Golden Age, it was even better than the first one.

We watched Kill Bill last night and enjoyed that. If you like Gerard Butler (and how could you not?) you have to see Dear Frankie. When you read what it's about it sounds cheesy, but it's excellent. And it's really nice to hear his Scottish accent, which they usually have him cover up.

I couldn't believe it when I cried watching PS I love you. My BF laughed at me, but I just couldn't help it.

So far this summer, I have enjoyed Indiana Jones and Iron Man, and laughed really hard at Kung Fu Panda. I'm definitely going to see the Dark Knight on the big screen as well. I'm also looking forward to seeing Wanted next week.

I also really want to see Get Smart and Mamma Mia.

I have seen 27 Dresses, Made of Honor, and Definitely Maybe. I was happy to see 27 Dresses in the theater, but I could have easily waited for the other two to come out on DVD. Made of Honor was pretty bad, and I really like Patrick Dempsey.

I've seen three of these:
Prince Caspian
27 Dresses
Get Smart

They're all worth seeing. Of course I liked Prince Caspian, and I definitely loved 27 Dresses. Get Smart was suprisingly funny. I saw it this weekend with my family because I thought I'd like it better than Kung Fu Panda. I was thinking it wouldn't be my kind of funny, but it was! There were a couple things I didn't like about it, but beyond that it was one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while.

I've seen 27 Dresses, P.S I Love you and Caspain, though I watched the first 2 via ClearPlay. I believe I'd like to catch Get Smart (was a big fan of the TV Series) but may end up waiting until it comes out on DVD.

Happy TT!

I heard Iron Man was awesome... but we haven't seen a movie in the theater in a very long time. Probably before we had children!

I definitly cried through PS I Love You! I had read the book, and loved it, so I was hoping to love the movie as well. It was different from the book- they changed a lot, but it was still really great and I'll likely buy the DVD soon too!

27 Dresses was also very cute. I had heard mixed reviews on it, but I liked it.

P.S. I Love You was a great movie. I'm not much of a crier, but I bawled during this one.

I just saw Definitely Maybe last week. I would recommend it, although it seemed to get a little long.

Across the Universe was awesome; I'm a pretty big fan of The Beatles though.

27 Dresses is best kept for a rental--which I'm sure is all you can do now anyway. It was good, but pretty predictable in my opinion.

I just saw The Eye with Jessica Alba and was pretty skeptical going in. Even though I don't care for her acting much, I'd recommend the movie if you like suspense.

I am a slacker about movies, too. We never get to see anything current anymore.

I enjoyed 27 dresses as well. Hubby hates romantic comedies so he hung out on the couch till it was over watching something I'd HATE.

I also enjoyed Indiana Jones at the theater.

This is Dad. Cannot believe that you could not find a little spot on your 13 for Pixar...have they ever steered you wrong in the past?

97% positive reviews for Wall-E from the critics and comments like these:

"Though perfection in film is a highly unlikely proposition, WALL-E indeed has become 2008's first perfect film and one of the best Pixar projects of all time."

"I don't know if it's a masterpiece; what I do know is that it is perfection."

"As perfect as a movie can be."

"I think Wall-E is a masterpiece. The folks at Pixar never rest on their laurels. They continue to push the limits of both computer animation and the storytelling possibilities that accompany it."
