So Food Nerd is hosting a kitchen mishap contest where you basically just need to write a post about a bad kitchen experience. If you read my blog at all, you know that kitchen mishaps are pretty much a given when it comes to my cooking. I really haven't done much cooking lately so I just decided to link back to some of my previous adventures in the kitchen. So if you haven't already read them, check out my cringe worthy crockpot creation, or my putrid pampered chef dip, or I could write about the time I made artichoke chicken with broccoli only to realize the broccoli I'd used was rotten, and we didn't have any artichokes. Really the list goes on and on. I'm slowly realizing that when it's my turn to eat dinner, we're much better off eating out.
What's your worst kitchen disaster?

Hmm...my worst kitchen mishap was the first 6 months I lived on my own. I did not know how to cook, so I ended up eating out a lot.
Everytime I walk into the kitchen it's a bad misshap!
I can think of two. Of course I've had a lot of recipe disasters, but these two were embarrassing for other reasons.
1. When I was 9, I told my mom I'd flip the burgers for her. We had a gas stove, and when I flipped one it splashed some grease onto the flames, which sent a huge flame up to the ceiling. I screamed that the house was on fire and ran outside.
2. I was 19 or so, and I invited the guy I liked, along with a couple of his friends over for dinner. I did not actually know how to cook at the time. They were almost an hour late, so everything was cold, but I had been waiting for them to show to broil the garlic bread. Which caught on fire. You know what that guy does now? He's a chef. A widely acclaimed chef in Ireland who lives in a castle.
I posted my worst kitchen mishap!
